Gordon C. James Art Exhibit January 4th - February 26th Selected works by noted artist, Gordon C. James will be on display at the Cornelius Arts Center (19725 Oak Street) gallery. James' artistic genre has its roots in Impressionism, inspired by John Singer Sargent and others. His style is both academic and expressive, allowing him to connect with his viewers. Don't miss this exciting new exhibit!
Artist's Reception February 26th Join us from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Cornelius Arts Center to meet artist Gordon C. James and ask questions regarding his exhibit. Light refreshments will be provided.
C.A.R.S. (Cultural Arts Reaching Seniors) For those 55 & Better Mobile Art January 27 & February 24 Our Mobile Art Program is visiting Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church January 27 & February 24 and activities will focus on noted African-American artists, such as Romare Beardon, Faith Ringgold and Jacob Lawrence. The Community Arts Project instructor Cathy Templeton will lead the activities. Trip to Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden in Bishopville, SC February 20 Get together with your friends and neighbors for a visit to Pearl Fryar's one-of-a-kind garden and meet Pearl himself! The bus will leave Cornelius Town Hall at 8:00am and travel to Bishopville to tour the garden and enjoy lunch prior to returning to Town Hall at approximately 4:00pm. We will be showing the award-winning documentary "A Man Named Pearl" on the bus as we travel to the garden.
Cost for the trip is $10 per person and includes transportation only. Participants will be responsible for purchasing their own lunch. Registration is required as space is limited, and can be taken at the PARC Department, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, or online. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent and not be required to ride in a car seat. Deadline for reservations is February 12. No refunds- rain or shine!
