Cornelius Youth Orchestra performance at Bailey Road Park during the Family Art Day Event.

The Town of Cornelius PARC Department is proud to announce the 5th season of the Cornelius Youth Orchestra instrumental music program! This dynamic group meets on Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, at Bailey Road Recreation Center (Bailey Middle School) located at 11900 Bailey Road.

The Cornelius Youth Orchestra is seeking beginning, intermediate and advanced young musicians for its growing programs. Both levels include a 30 minute sectional instruction from qualified music instructors and 30 – 40 minutes of group orchestra rehearsal.  It’s not too late to join the fun!

The Cornelius Youth Orchestra is available for youth musicians with three or more years of music instruction and is intended for those musicians that can perform young orchestra musical compositions.

The Cornelius Cadet Orchestra is available for youth musicians with one or more years of music instruction and is intended as a beginning orchestra program.

New This Year CYO Jazz Ensemble! Our Director William "Bill" Haraden will be instructing the Jazz Ensemble program.  This program is offered to youth musicians with three or more years of music instruction, no prior jazz experience is necessary.  The program is 45 minutes of jazz musical instruction and the opportunity for performance in a group setting.  Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 6:00pm – 6:45pm, which enables youth musicians to participate in both Jazz and Youth Orchestra.  The program is held at Bailey Road Recreation Center (Bailey Middle School) located at 11900 Bailey Road.

Both programs are under the direction of Bill and Nanette Haraden. Nanette Haraden, one of the co-founders of the Lake Norman Orchestra, is the program director. She brings her organizational expertise to the Cornelius Youth and Cadet Orchestras. Bill Haraden will lead the multiple levels of group instrumental instruction for beginning to advanced youth musicians, performing community events on a regular basis each year.

Tuition scholarships are available, so no youth musician will be turned away because of inability to pay.

*Space in each program is on a first come basis and is limited to the first 60 youth musicians enrolled in both orchestra programs.
