Therapeutic Recreation Adult Programs

The Towns of Davidson, Cornelius PARC Department and Huntersville have teamed up and are proud to offer a variety of Therapeutic Recreation Programs to individuals of all needs and abilities. Therapeutic Recreation uses treatment, leisure education and recreation participation to help people with illnesses, disabilities and other conditions to develop and use their leisure in ways that enhance their health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life. (NTRS, 2000). Financial assistance is available to those in need that reside in the Towns of Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville.

ADULT PROGRAM GOAL:
To provide the opportunity to socialize with peers, improve self-esteem, learn new skills and increase independence.  We invite you to join us for a different activity each month.  Ages 20 and up.  Registration is required.

2nd Annual Run Too Overcome 5K &1Mile Kids Fun Run/Walk
This run benefits the special education programs of the CMS North Learning Communities.

Improving Communication Skills with Table Topics with Toastmasters at the Lake

Come and hone your communication skills in a nurturing and supportive environment with Toastmasters at the Lake. They will guide you thru a fun Table Topics program to help you think on your feet. This is an experience you dont want to miss!

Sailboat Rides

Ages 7 and up
Free Sailboat rides on a 19' Flying Scott Sailboat will be given to individuals with intellectual disabilities and one parent/caregiver.  Length of ride on Lake Norman is approx. 30 min. Donations to the sailing center are welcomed.  This program is co-sponsored with the NC Community Sailing & Rowing Center.
