The Westmoreland Athletic Complex (WAC) is a youth baseball/softball facility located off Westmoreland Road in Cornelius.  Construction for Phase I is currently underway and will include two ball fields, restroom/concession building, playground, and parking.  The Town has $1.5 M in development funds with $500,000 coming from a NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund.  Construction is scheduled to be complete by September 2010.  The athletic field turf will need a full year to grow in so fields should be ready for play in the fall of 2011.

Construction Overview - During the Month of March 2010 construction began on the Westmoreland Phase I scope of work.  As of June, all clearing, soil erosion, storm water detention, and rough grading is complete.  The restroom/picnic shelter/concession building foundation and walls are coming up out of the ground as well.  Overall the project is 45% complete and is on schedule for completion this September.
